Breast Surgery Statistics on the rise

More women are having breast surgery

Plastic surgery procedures are on the rise and none more than breast enhancement surgeries. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons the number of breast surgeries has increased dramatically since 2000.

The National Plastic Surgery Statistics show that breast augmentation surgery is up 55% from the year 2000 to 2006. With more breast implants options available including the new silicone gel breast implants this figure is sure to continue to increase.

From 2000 to 2006 breast implant removals dropped 33%. This stat either means that women are having fewer complications and or that they are happier with their breast surgery.

The most staggering increase in breast surgery is women having breast lifts. According to ASPS, the number of mastopexy procedures performed in the USA is up a whopping 96% since 2000.

These stats reflect the increase in breast surgeries which may be attributed to new breast implant options, better surgical techniques that limit the amount of scarring on the breasts, television exposure for plastic surgery, more information about breast surgery online and also the fact that breast surgery is easy to finance. Whatever the reasons, one thing is certain, there are many more women in 2006 that are looking and feeling better about the appearance of their breasts after breast enhancement surgery.
