MRI's How often should you get an MRI? Recent studies have shown that women in high risk situations for breast cancer should go for annual MRI’S in addition to regular mammograms, Dr.’s exams and breast self exams. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a method used to take photos of the areas inside the body. An MRI uses a magnet linked to a computer to produce very detailed images and to assist medical professionals in finding breast cancer that may be missed by other detection methods. The only downside of MRI’S is the cost. An MRI can cost as much as $2000.00. To avoid having to pay for the MRI yourself have your doctor write a letter to your insurance company stating the reasons why you are considered a high risk breast cancer patient and have the MRI pre approved by your insurance company prior to having it done. If you do have to pay for it your self consider it an investment in your future. It’s impossible to put a price on good health and life itself. Dr. Frederic Corbin office offers complimentary breast exams to his breast surgery patients. For more information on breast health and cancer go to www.BreastCancer.org
